One of the most common questions we hear after clients pick up their finished portraits is, “How do we hang it without putting a dozen holes in the wall first?”
It’s a fair concern — especially when you’re working with beautifully finished walls or a collection that you may rearrange over time.
At the studio, we use a simple little tool that makes the process nearly foolproof: these tiny angled wall hooks.
They create a pin-sized hole instead of a nail hole, but they’re surprisingly strong — easily supporting framed portraits and canvases. Because the pins insert at a downward angle, they grip securely while leaving a mark that’s barely noticeable if you ever move your artwork.
You can find them right here on Amazon using our Associates link. We keep a few packs around for gallery changes, and they’ve saved our walls more times than we can count.
Use a small level or even a smartphone app to make sure everything lines up perfectly.
If you’re grouping multiple pieces, lay them out on the floor first to plan spacing before committing to the wall.
Keep the pins angled downward — that’s what gives them strength and makes the hole practically invisible later.
Whether you’re creating a statement wall or adding a single cherished portrait, these hooks make it simple to enjoy your artwork without worrying about wall repairs.
We use them for every installation in our own studio — and highly recommend them for your home, too.
